Description For Support Data Engineer II

Rackspace Technology, a leading multicloud solutions provider, is seeking a Support Data Engineer II to join their Global Technical Support team. This role focuses on supporting MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and various database systems in a 24/7 Linux environment. The position offers both remote and hybrid work options within the United States.

The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of experience in MongoDB/Elasticsearch support or similar database technologies, combined with strong Linux administration skills. This role involves managing complex customer issues, handling system maintenance, and ensuring optimal database performance. You'll be part of a dynamic team providing round-the-clock operational support, requiring flexibility with schedules including weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities include resolving database application alerts, managing upgrades and patches, handling security issues, and performing data restorations. You'll work closely with DBAs, SREs, account managers, and developers, while maintaining direct customer support through tickets and chat systems.

Responsibilities For Support Data Engineer II

  • Issue resolution for database application alerts, upgrades, patching, security
  • Data restorals and replication, backups and performance tuning
  • Operating system and network troubleshooting
  • Responding to customer requests (tickets and chats) and monitoring alerts
  • Monitoring the production environment
  • Providing acceptable system performance
  • Assuring data are protected and recoverable
  • Participate in on-call rotation during regular shift hours
  • Work flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, occasional nights and emergency escalations

Requirements For Support Data Engineer II

  • 2+ years of experience with either MongoDB or Elasticsearch application support, DBA or development
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Good understanding of Linux operating system, especially debian and CentOS based distributions
  • Ability to work well in teams with good oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate technical details and ideas and write documentation
  • Ability to work independently as part of a remote team
  • Must be legally allowed to work in the US
