Description For Storage Engineer

Rackspace is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to join their Private Cloud - Americas Healthcare and Tech team. This role is crucial in managing and maintaining the Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) infrastructure in a 24/7 enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in storage & backup technologies, handling critical infrastructure, and providing solutions for complex storage challenges.

Responsibilities For Storage Engineer

  • Manage and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) in a 24/7 enterprise environment
  • Install local storage systems and troubleshoot storage-related errors
  • Perform capacity planning and monitoring of storage arrays and SAN switches
  • Handle level III tickets and escalations from lower level engineers
  • Conduct proactive reviews of SAN and Backup environments
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Assist Architects with Datacenter deployments
  • Develop process and procedure improvements

Requirements For Storage Engineer

Linux
MySQL
  • 7 years of information systems experience and system administration
  • Minimum 5 years SAN, Backup or Fiber Channel switch experience
  • Advanced technical knowledge in technology troubleshooting methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of SAN and Backup best practices for VMware, Windows and Linux systems
  • Experience with backup technologies including Isilon, PowerScale, Pure, NAS
  • Strong working knowledge of Fiber Channel SAN concepts and technologies
  • Experience with disaster recovery, replication and data copying technologies
