Redwood Materials, founded in 2017, is seeking an entrepreneurial Mechanical Engineer to support pilot projects and commercial scale production operations. The company aims to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Redwood Materials, you will be responsible for leading continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing lines. Your role will involve:
- Leading the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment
- Designing tooling and fixtures
- Reviewing and providing input on new process/equipment designs
- Partnering with the mechanical development team to transition newly developed processes and equipment into manufacturing
- Creating and owning process work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Training manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment
- Analyzing process data and metrics to drive improvements in safety, quality, and cost
- Troubleshooting and solving process and equipment issues
- Identifying and executing continuous improvement projects

Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer
- Lead the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing
- Strong organizational and project management skills; previous project management experience preferred
- Prior experience leading capital acquisition processes
- Experience with industrial scale processes and equipment, including automation
- Detailed oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving
- Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with structured capital process, including process/equipment validation
- Technical writing experience
- Highly proficient with Microsoft office software
- Solid Modeling 3D CAD experience preferred
