Description For Senior Controls Engineer

Redwood Materials, founded in 2017, is revolutionizing the battery supply chain by creating a circular economy for electric vehicles and clean energy products. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge automation systems for battery recycling and materials manufacturing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing in-house automation systems
  • Providing expert maintenance and support
  • Overseeing plant control systems (SCADA, HMIs, PLCs, DCS, vision systems, robotic cells, OT networking)
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on large capital projects
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in automated manufacturing
  • Strong process control design and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of networking and fieldbus systems
  • Experience with Siemens PLCs and Ignition SCADA system
  • Passion for sustainability and making a positive impact

Responsibilities For Senior Controls Engineer

  • Lead the design and implementation of reliable, in-house automation systems
  • Provide expert maintenance and support for automation and electrical-related issues
  • Oversee and maintain plant control systems (SCADA, HMIs, PLCs, DCS, vision systems, robotic cells, OT networking)
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams on large capital projects
  • Support risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Requirements For Senior Controls Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in an automated manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of process control design and feedback control strategies
  • Ability to read, interpret, and edit P&IDs
  • Exceptional electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Basic understanding of networking and fieldbus systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Siemens PLCs and Ignition SCADA system
