Senior Mechanical Engineer

Redwood Materials, founded in 2017, is dedicated to creating a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products. Their mission is to increase sustainability and reduce battery costs by developing and deploying new technologies to expand the use of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Redwood Materials, you'll play a crucial role in supporting pilot projects and commercial scale production operations. Your primary responsibility will be leading continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing lines. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment
• Designing tooling and fixtures
• Reviewing and providing input on new process/equipment designs
• Partnering with the mechanical development team to transition newly developed processes and equipment into manufacturing
• Creating and owning process work instructions and standard operating procedures
• Training manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment
• Analyzing process data and metrics to drive improvements in safety, quality, and cost
• Troubleshooting and solving process and equipment issues
• Identifying and executing continuous improvement projects

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing. You should possess excellent organizational and project management skills, with previous project management experience preferred. Experience with industrial scale processes and equipment, including automation, is essential.

Other desired qualifications include:

• Prior experience leading capital acquisition processes
• Detail-oriented approach with analytical and structured problem-solving skills
• Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Familiarity with structured capital processes, including process/equipment validation
• Technical writing experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Solid Modeling 3D CAD experience (preferred)
