Description For Staff MES Controls Engineer

As a Staff MES Controls Engineer at Redwood Materials, you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading strategic projects aligned with Redwood's manufacturing strategies
  2. Providing expertise in hardware and software development, adhering to ISA112, ISA95, Industry 4.0, and IIoT standards
  3. Managing the Level 2 and 3 layers of the automation pyramid
  4. Collaborating with IT and Controls Engineers on network architecture
  5. Partnering with cross-functional teams to drive MES project requirements
  6. Creating and maintaining design documents, architecture diagrams, and SOPs
  7. Integrating MES with ERP systems
  8. Providing technical leadership and training to Controls Engineers
  9. Administering databases and servers for Automation systems

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in automated manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Inductive Automation's Ignition, Sepasoft MES Suite, SQL Databases, Linux and Windows Servers, OT Networks, and Industrial Switches
  • Strong skills in Python and SQL
  • Understanding of Level 1 Automation equipment (PLCs, Robot controllers, HMIs)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and fieldbuses
  • Network troubleshooting skills
  • A passion for sustainability
