Description For COPV Engineer II

At Relativity Space, we are developing the architecture for the upcoming Terran R vehicle and are responsible for charting the company's path for gas storage on a reusable rocket, both near term and long term. As a COPV Engineer II, you will be part of the Stage Fluids team, responsible for all fluid systems between the engine and the ground connection that will enable our Terran 1 and R rockets to venture into space.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with various disciplines, including propulsion, structures, launch, and test teams, to deliver a vehicle capable of launching to orbit. You'll be working on exciting projects such as partnering with third-party vendors in the design and analysis of gas storage COPVs, working on vehicle gas system design and operation, establishing test campaigns for qualification and acceptance of COPVs, performing tests and reviewing data, supporting integration of COPVs on the rocket, selecting and managing vendors, performing trade studies to improve gas storage solutions, and assessing long-term COPV design and manufacturing plans.

We're looking for someone with an undergraduate degree in engineering or a technical discipline, and at least 2 years of relevant technical experience. You should have experience with ownership of delivering complex products with minimal guidance, applying pressure vessel engineering fundamentals, and knowledge of fluid and mechanical system design and operation.

Additional experience with COPVs or other composite structures, working in a creative and fast-paced development environment, solving complex problems, staying organized, CAD, and launch vehicle systems would be beneficial but is not required.

At Relativity Space, we offer competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, an annual learning and development stipend, and more. Join us on this extraordinary journey as we work together to transform our vision into reality and shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience.
