As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for Tooling, you will be a key member of our Manufacturing team, responsible for developing high-quality tooling for the Terran vehicle and Aeon engine programs. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, handling a wide range of technical problems and collaborating closely with component designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop production tooling for Terran vehicle and Aeon engine programs
- Integrate concepts and principles of mechanical design across multiple projects
- Apply design and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5) in creating tooling drawing definitions
- Handle various technical problems related to material handling, assembly fixtures, test fixtures, and custom machines
- Collaborate with other teams to achieve optimal cradle-to-grave metrics
- Manage projects including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, and equipment installation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent
- 14+ years of work experience in design, build, and commissioning of tooling and fixtures
- Experience with CAD and FEA-based analysis software (NX and ANSYS Workbench preferred)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing materials, processes, and GD&T
- Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter PLM, and various analysis software is a plus
