Description For Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Stage Separation- Pneumatic Assembly

Relativity Space is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Stage Separation- Pneumatic Assembly to join their Mechanisms Manufacturing team. This role is critical in the development and initial builds of Terran R, their next-generation, fully reusable rocket. The ideal candidate will work alongside vehicle design and test teams to develop hardware enabling Terran R reusability, such as landing legs, pneumatic separation and release mechanisms, and electromechanical actuators.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving major mechanized subassembly and component development from design release through test and integration
  • Supporting workcenter development and providing hands-on support to the shop floor
  • Fostering strong collaborative relationships across departments
  • Advocating for scalable manufacturing in product design
  • Developing build flow planning, tooling design, and complex assembly work planning

Requirements:

  • BS in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering (or technical equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment
  • Extensive experience in authoring work instructions, managing process improvements, and developing tooling
  • Experience with machining, precision drilling, mechanical fastening, pneumatic or electromechanical assembly, and integrated testing

Responsibilities For Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Stage Separation- Pneumatic Assembly

  • Drive major mechanized subassembly and component development from design release through test and integration
  • Support workcenter development considering assembly and test operations, safety, tooling, and capital equipment requirements
  • Provide hands-on support to the shop floor and production personnel
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with design, production, supply chain and quality assurance teams
  • Advocate for scalable manufacturing in product design trades and reviews
  • Develop build flow planning, large-scale part logistics, and tooling design
  • Analyze build & test data, workcenter capacity modelling
  • Execute complex assembly work planning

Requirements For Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Stage Separation- Pneumatic Assembly

  • BS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering (or technical equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment
  • Extensive experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures
  • Experience partnering with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel
  • Extensive experience managing and implementing large process and/or quality improvements
  • Extensive experience managing large personal scope of ownership
  • Experience developing or participating in developing tooling as a manufacturing representative
  • Experience with machining, precision drilling, mechanical fastening, torquing operations, pneumatic or electromechanical assembly, electrical or pneumatic functional checkouts, integrated testing, tool design and fab, subassembly workcenter development
