Senior Mechanical Engineer, Stage Propulsion

At Relativity Space, we are building the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and aim to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Our long-term vision is to create humanity's industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Stage Propulsion team, you will be responsible for the mechanical and structural implementation of stage fluid systems for our Terran R launch vehicle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting fluids routing and design trade studies
• Designing fluids hardware mounting structures
• Performing fluid system hardware mechanical verification analysis
• Designing mounting hardware for fluid system components
• Incorporating 3D printing methods in fluid system mechanical design
• Applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles

The ideal candidate will enjoy leading the team in exploring new methods and design approaches, take end-to-end ownership of designs, and be flexible to changes in strategic direction. You'll work closely with various teams, including structures, propulsion, avionics hardware, GNC, performance, manufacturing, and testing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or equivalent engineering discipline
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience
• Proficiency with commercial CAD packages (NX, CREO, Solidworks)
• Experience with GD&T
• Project ownership experience
• Manufacturing experience or vendor interaction
• Experience with fluid system components and system testing
• Familiarity with FEA tools for structural margin analysis
