Description For Test Engineering Intern

Relativity Space is revolutionizing the aerospace industry with their ambitious goals of building the next commercial launch company and becoming America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. As a Test Engineering Intern at their Stennis facility, you'll be at the forefront of rocket engine development and testing. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians on the Terran R project, designing and operating world-class test stands at the historic Stennis Space Center. This role offers unique hands-on experience with fully integrated engine and stage assemblies, allowing you to witness rocket engines firing up close. The position combines both design and operations aspects, from 3D modeling and analysis to conducting complex propulsion test operations. You'll be contributing to critical projects that directly impact the success of Relativity Space's mission to create humanity's industrial base on Mars. Responsibilities For Test Engineering Intern

  • Design and operate rocket engine test stands for Terran R engines and stages
  • Design advanced propulsion test stands including 3D modeling and analysis
  • Create and optimize test sequences, procedures, and data review processes
  • Conduct complex propulsion test operations
  • Control and receive telemetry from test stand through GUIs
  • Help develop new rocket engine propulsion designs based on test data
  • Participate in construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities

Requirements For Test Engineering Intern

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in thermal, structural, and fluids analysis
  • Hands-on fabrication experience using common power tools
  • Ability to work occasional night shifts
  • Must clear US government background check
  • Demonstrated drive to deliver on tight schedules
