As a Flight Controls Engineer, you'll join the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Team, working on cutting-edge technology that will transform air transportation. The role involves designing and implementing flight control laws for various flight phases, including autotaxi, auto-takeoff, autoland, and automatic rollout.

You'll be working with real-world hardware and C/C++ flight software, conducting simulation analysis, and performing data reduction in Python and C/C++ environments. The position offers a competitive salary range of $128,000 to $160,000, along with stock options and comprehensive benefits.

The role requires a strong background in aerospace engineering or robotics, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in flight controls algorithms. You'll be based in Mountain View, California, working in a collaborative environment with experienced professionals from aerospace, robotics, and self-driving cars backgrounds.

Responsibilities For Flight Control Law Engineer

  • Establish autoflight and flight control system requirements
  • Interface with Pilots and Operations team to develop flight test plans
  • Design and analyze flight control laws from conceptual design through implementation and certification
  • Develop simulation models to evaluate flight control system performance and stability
  • Implement control laws and algorithms in flight software
  • Test flight software in simulation, Monte Carlo, hardware-in-loop, and flight

Requirements For Flight Control Law Engineer

Python
  • BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or equivalent field
  • 3+ years of hands on, professional experience developing and testing flight controls algorithms
  • Experience with flight dynamics simulation and model identification
  • Professional experience with developing C/C++ flight software and Python data reduction & analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Must comply with U.S. export control laws
