Description For System Power Engineer, Ring Hardware

Ring is seeking a System Power Engineer to join their global electrical engineering team. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest product quality standards and driving continuous improvement for Ring's products. As a member of the Power Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and testing power solutions for next-generation Doorbell/Camera hardware.

Key responsibilities include:

  • System Power development from RFQ to MP
  • Hands-on power circuit design, study, build, and verification
  • Writing and contributing to test specifications, criteria, and procedures
  • Root cause analysis and solution finding for bugs
  • Second source qualification and cost reduction tasks
  • Supporting sustaining engineering efforts

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, specifically in power electronics
  • Hardware lab experience in setting up prototypes, developing tests, and running tests
  • Experience in automating test execution using programming/scripting languages
  • Expertise in designing, testing, and debugging power electronics (AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion, switching power supplies, driver circuits, and battery systems)

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Deep understanding of power electronics circuit topologies
  • Experience with safety, compliance, and regulatory standards for product design and testing
  • Experience working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development
  • In-depth experience in Doorbell, Camera, and other IoT product development
  • Knowledge of IoT infrastructure constraints, including power tree, power budget, and battery life estimation
  • Strong critical thinking skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills for evangelizing ideas and concerns
  • Experience with power, performance, and cost optimization
