Description For Data Security Engineer

Rover, a leading platform connecting pet parents with pet sitters and dog walkers, is seeking a Data Security Engineer to join their Cyber Security team in Barcelona. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the security infrastructure of a company that makes pet care accessible across the US, Canada, and Europe. The position requires one day per week in the Barcelona office, offering a flexible hybrid work environment.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing the data security program, with a focus on privacy regulations and data protection processes. You'll work with AWS services, manage the Ketch platform, and ensure compliance with GDPR and CCPA regulations. With 3+ years of experience required, you'll serve as a subject matter expert in data security, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain robust data privacy practices.

Responsibilities For Data Security Engineer

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the Data Security Engineering program
  • Provide expertise and guidance on privacy best practices
  • Administer the Ketch platform and ensure configuration to best practices
  • Monitor and fix vulnerabilities in Data infrastructure
  • Engineer best practices for encryption, sanitization, and monitoring
  • Collaborate with external vendors for privacy due diligence
  • Maintain documentation related to data protection
  • Support incident response activities
  • Implement encryption strategies using AWS services
  • Develop and deploy secure AWS architectures
  • Automate data subject requests
  • Develop data loss protection technical controls

Requirements For Data Security Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field
  • Experience with data mapping, automating data deletion workflows, and managing privacy management software
  • 3+ years of experience in data privacy, security engineering with AWS focus
  • Proven experience with AWS security services, tools, and best practices
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements
