Senior Splunk Engineer

At Salesforce Marketing Cloud, the role of the Senior Splunk Engineer is crucial for the success of our global cross-channel marketing software as a service platform. You'll be part of a team responsible for ensuring the Marketing Cloud platform is supported by highly available, performant Splunk environments. This role requires a deep understanding of service delivery engineering concepts, practices, and procedures, with the ability to resolve a wide range of issues creatively.

As a Senior Splunk Engineer, you'll:

• Take ownership and accountability for your actions, with meticulous attention to detail
• Provide effort estimation and complete work based on scheduled activities
• Design, implement, and maintain large Splunk environments, focusing on automation
• Develop and/or write/test custom tools for system automation tasks
• Create proof of concepts (POCs) to evaluate technology fit for real-life use cases
• Maintain high standards for code quality and efficiency
• Participate in on-call rotation (approximately twice per quarter)

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience developing and running supervising infrastructure at scale
• Solid understanding of modern service monitoring systems principles and concepts
• Experience with large Splunk environments, including indexer and search head clusters, event and metric data types, and summaries/rollups
• Scripting skills in shell/Perl/Python/PowerShell for task automation
• Working knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible/Chef/Puppet/Terraform)
• Understanding of code repositories (git/perforce/svn/CVS)
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS or Azure

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
• Working knowledge of Fluentbit
• Understanding of Containers
