Salesforce is seeking a Sr/Lead DevOps Engineer to join their Technology, Marketing & Products Engineering team. This role is hybrid, based in either San Francisco, CA or McLean, VA. The team is responsible for innovating and maintaining a substantial distributed systems engineering platform that serves tens of millions of users across all industries.
As a Sr/Lead DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Develop observability and telemetry services and tools
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Engineers to conceptualize and build new features
- Produce high-quality results with significant business impact
- Own team features or systems and define their long-term health
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
- Take ownership and accountability for your areas
- Create and maintain detailed documentation
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation
- Design, develop, deploy, and enhance automation for the observability platform infrastructure
- Code review, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance (depending on seniority)
Requirements:
- Related technical degree
- 5+ years of professional development experience in Cloud-based environments
- 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)
- 3+ years working with public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- 3+ years of Linux system engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience in programming languages (Java, Python, Golang)
- 3+ years experience with Maven/Gradle/Ant builds
- 3+ years experience deploying with CI/CD orchestration services (Jenkins, Spinnaker)
- Continuous learner and critical thinker
- Excellent verbal communication and technical documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, Zabbix)
- Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools (Splunk, Loki, Tableau, Grafana)
- Experience in open-source technologies (HBase, Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, Presto, Hive, Airflow)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases
- Experience providing Production Operations support in a 24/7/365 environment
