Description For Perception Engineer

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing defense autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations for the Department of Defense (DoD) through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

We are seeking a Perception Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing perception systems for our autonomous surface vessels. You will work on the forefront of technology, applying your expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion to create robust and reliable perception solutions that enable our ASVs to navigate and make critical decisions in complex maritime environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize computer vision and machine learning algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, and scene understanding
  • Integrate data from various sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS) for comprehensive perception systems
  • Implement real-time data processing pipelines for rapid and accurate perception feedback
  • Collaborate with data annotation teams for training and validation datasets
  • Optimize algorithms for efficient use of computational resources
  • Conduct extensive testing and validation in simulated and real-world maritime environments
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of perception software
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate perception systems into ASVs
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in computer vision, sensor technologies, and machine learning

Requirements For Perception Engineer

Python
Rust
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and CUDA
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Understanding of various filters and their applications
  • Basic proficiency in Rust
  • Experience with maritime or autonomous vehicle projects is a plus
  • Experience with signals processing or sensor fusion is a plus
  • Experience with low latency inference and tracking pipelines is a plus
