Description For Project Engineer

Schimenti Construction Company, a leading general contractor in the retail, hospitality, and corporate interior sectors, is seeking a Project Engineer for their New York office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a results-driven, professional team that delivers world-class customer service across multiple office locations in New York and California.

As a Project Engineer, you'll be integral to the entire life-cycle of construction projects, working closely with Project Management teams. The role combines technical construction knowledge with administrative expertise, requiring both practical understanding of construction practices and strong organizational skills.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $85,000 per year, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, and generous PTO. Key responsibilities include managing project updates in Procore, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, handling administrative tasks such as RFIs and submittals, and supporting project managers with various aspects of project execution. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, minimum 2 years of relevant experience, and strong proficiency in MS Office suite.

Responsibilities For Project Engineer

  • Complete new project updates in Procore and distribute initial drawings and plans
  • Schedule calls and meetings with internal and external project team members
  • Process RFIs, submittals, subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and change orders
  • Assist Project Managers with buyout process
  • Create and distribute weekly reports
  • Assist in preparation of closeout package process
  • Occasional travel to project site as needed

Requirements For Project Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience, preferably in construction
  • Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
  • Excellent MS Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • MS Project, Procore, and Timberline/Sage experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Team-player with ability to build relationships
