Description For Principal Electrical Engineer, Power Systems

Shield AI, founded in 2015, is a venture-backed defense technology company dedicated to protecting service members and civilians through intelligent systems. The company's flagship autonomy software, Hivemind, powers aircraft, drones, and other platforms for complex missions in contested environments. As a Principal Electrical Power Systems Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing next-generation aircraft power systems. The role involves architecting, designing, and implementing robust, high-reliability power systems specifically tailored for aircraft applications. You'll lead the development of uninterruptible power systems with high-capacity batteries, conduct critical make-vs-buy analyses, and work closely with third-party vendors for subsystem qualification. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of engineers, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure system performance through comprehensive testing and validation. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering work, requiring expertise in power system design for large aircraft and deep knowledge of industry standards. With offices in San Diego, Dallas, Washington, D.C., and international locations, Shield AI offers a dynamic environment where your work directly impacts critical defense operations worldwide. The compensation package includes competitive salary, bonus potential, equity, and comprehensive benefits, reflecting the senior nature of this role.
