The Supplier Development Engineer role is a crucial position focused on mechanical components, including composites, 3D printed parts, injection molded components, and engines. The position requires a strong background in supplier development, quality engineering, and supply chain management within the aerospace industry. The role is essential for enhancing supplier performance, solving quality and delivery challenges, and supporting the company's mission to deliver affordable autonomous systems at scale.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for various critical functions, including process improvement, quality assurance through on-site audits, supplier development, and technical support. They will need to monitor supplier performance metrics, manage risks within the supply chain, and support new product introductions. Responsibilities For Supplier Development Engineer

  • Process Improvement: Audit and embed into core supplier processes
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct on-site audits
  • Supplier Development: Assess and improve supplier capabilities
  • Engineering Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to suppliers
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze supplier performance metrics
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Support

Requirements For Supplier Development Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical hardware manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering role
  • Ability to analyze and explain 2D drawings and critical features of mechanical components
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international suppliers ~50%+ of time
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferred)
  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Problem solving skills including root cause investigation and failure analysis
  • Leadership experience on a cross-functional project team
