The Fleet Operations Engineer position is a crucial role focused on maintaining and optimizing robotic units deployed at customer locations. This temporary 16-week position combines hands-on technical work with customer service excellence.

The role demands a unique blend of electromechanical expertise and software proficiency, requiring both remote and on-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of robotic systems. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience with complex electromechanical systems and strong technical capabilities in Linux, networking, and computer systems.

Key aspects of the role include traveling to customer locations (up to 5 hours away), performing hardware maintenance and repairs, supporting third-party technicians remotely, and ensuring optimal robot performance. The position requires weekend availability and the ability to adapt to various physical environments.

Responsibilities For Fleet Operations Engineer

  • Travel to customer stores and perform physical robot hardware maintenance, repairs, and upgrades/retrofits
  • Support 3rd party technicians via phone and remote login to robots
  • Alert escalation support of robot issues via remote login
  • Contact customer stores to address robot issues
  • Provide weekend support as needed
  • Regional travel up to 5 hours one way with overnight stays as needed

Requirements For Fleet Operations Engineer

Linux
  • 5+ years assembly or repair of complex electromechanical systems
  • Troubleshooting video, networking, and computer systems
  • Power user of web based live control tools
  • Linux OS command line interface and shell scripting experience
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively using collaborative messaging tools
  • Physical capability to lift equipment and perform repairs in various environments
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Adaptability to new technical challenges
  • Professional customer interaction skills
