Description For Principal Cloud FinOps Engineer

Smarsh is seeking a Principal Cloud FinOps Engineer to manage and optimize cloud spend. Reporting to the Head of FinOps and working closely with VP of Technology Strategy and engineering leaders, you'll be responsible for reporting cloud cost consumption and bringing financial transparency across cloud services. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, hands-on AWS experience, and solid understanding of FinOps principles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with engineering, product, and finance teams
  • Managing hosting costs with external cloud providers
  • Establishing cost visibility reports and dashboards
  • Implementing cost anomaly monitoring in complex architectures
  • Working on production-related budgets and forecasts
  • Creating TCO models for new products/projects
  • Encouraging financial responsibility across teams
  • Staying updated on industry trends and FinOps best practices

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Cloud FinOps Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Operating Model, Observability, Cloud infrastructure, Networking Architecture, Containers, and Microservices
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification preferred
  • FinOps Certified Engineer or Practitioner desirable
