Description For Data Center Engineer for Bitbar

SmartBear is seeking a Data Center Engineer for Bitbar to own the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our new data center in San Jose, California. You'll be responsible for ensuring high availability of devices, extending the setup, and keeping the system in top condition. This mission-critical role requires maintaining 99.999% uptime.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning one of the three BitBar data centers
  • Developing and maintaining automation, monitoring, and processes for operational uptime
  • Identifying and resolving technical problems
  • Providing technical support for network, OS, virtualization, and storage issues
  • Following and maintaining procedures and documentation
  • Being on call for tickets and dispatch requests
  • Daily visits to the data center

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Networking skills (VLANs, DNS, DHCP)
  • Kubernetes administration (EKS) experience
  • Proficiency in bash and python scripting
  • Linux administration (VMWare Fusion or MacOS a plus)
  • Experience with GitHub and Ansible
  • Familiarity with mobile development tools (Appium, Selenium, Android, iOS)
  • Ability to lift and install equipment 50 lb+
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work autonomously
