SoLa Impact, an award-winning social impact company, is seeking a dedicated Construction Engineer Intern to join their high-achieving team in Los Angeles. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in affordable housing construction while making a meaningful impact in low-income communities.
The role involves supporting the construction team in various aspects of affordable housing projects, from planning and design to monitoring construction progress. Interns will conduct research on sustainable building practices, assist with project documentation, and participate in pre-construction meetings. This position offers exposure to real-world construction management challenges while contributing to SoLa's mission of creating high-quality affordable housing.
The internship program runs in two cohorts: May-August or June-September, with a full-time schedule (9:00 AM-5:00 PM, M-F) and competitive hourly compensation of $20-$24. The position is based at The Beehive in Los Angeles, providing an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in the construction industry.

Responsibilities For Construction Engineer Intern
- Support the construction team in planning and design of affordable housing projects
- Conduct research on building materials, construction methods, and energy-efficient design practices
- Monitor and document construction work in progress
- Assist with the preparation of project reports and documentation
- Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators for Engineering & Construction
- Attend pre-construction meetings
- Review construction drawings and specifications
Requirements For Construction Engineer Intern
- Must be enrolled in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering degree program
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, Yardi knowledge a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to follow direction and manage specific tasks to completion
- Ability to learn and adapt to computer based programs and databases
- Knowledge of the construction industry preferred
