Sonic is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team in a role that combines infrastructure management, system optimization, and technical leadership. This position offers a flexible work arrangement with hybrid options based in Santa Rosa, CA.

The role demands an experienced professional with 10+ years of relevant experience who will be responsible for the end-to-end management of Sonic's Production Infrastructure and Systems. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge in Linux administration, virtualization platforms, and core internet service applications.

Key responsibilities include ensuring continuous availability of critical services, implementing monitoring solutions, and mentoring team members. The position requires deep technical expertise in various areas including storage platforms, disaster recovery systems, and automation tools like Ansible.

The compensation starts at $145,000, with the final package depending on experience. The position offers a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) with typical hours between 8am-6pm Pacific, though some flexibility may be required for system maintenance.

Requirements For Senior Systems Engineer

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in administration of Linux (RedHat) and BSD variants
  • Expert knowledge managing core internet service applications
  • Expert knowledge of hardware and virtualization platforms including VMware, Proxmox and/or libvirt
  • Expert knowledge of security best practices and effective policies
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage platforms
  • Experience operating and managing enterprise backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Experience with Ansible and/or other configuration management and automation systems
  • Solid programming and scripting in languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, C, and shell
