Description For Customer Engineer (Pre-Sales)

Sourcegraph is revolutionizing the software development landscape with their code intelligence platform, powering the world's best code search and open-source code AI tools. Their mission is to democratize coding, making it accessible to everyone, not just 0.1% of the population. As a Customer Engineer in pre-sales, you'll join a company backed by prestigious investors like a16z and Sequoia, valued at $2.625B.

The role offers unique insights into how world-class organizations build software at scale. You'll work with leading technology companies, including 4/5 FAANG companies, Fortune 500 firms, and innovative startups. Your responsibilities will evolve from getting demo-certified and understanding the product in your first month to leading customer conversations and becoming a thought leader within six months.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong communication skills. You'll need experience with backend infrastructure, coding abilities in languages like JavaScript, Python, Java, or Go, and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes. While you don't need to be a software engineer, understanding the software development lifecycle is crucial.

Working from San Francisco, you'll enjoy competitive compensation ($120,000-$160,000 OTE), equity, and comprehensive benefits. You'll be part of an ambitious team working to automate 99% of software engineering toil through code understanding and AI tools, while preserving the crucial human element of creative innovation.
