Description For Aerodynamics Engineer, Turbomachinery (Starship)

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer specializing in Turbomachinery for their revolutionary Starship program. This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute directly to humanity's journey to Mars and the advancement of space technology.

The position demands a blend of technical expertise in turbomachinery design and practical engineering skills. As an Aerodynamics Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing critical propulsion components that will power humanity's next giant leap into space. You'll lead the entire lifecycle of turbomachinery components, from initial concept through to flight operations.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years of hands-on experience in turbomachinery design, complemented by a strong educational background in aerospace or mechanical engineering. You'll need to demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard tools like Siemens NX and ANSYS, along with a deep understanding of aerodynamics and mechanical design principles.

What makes this role particularly exciting is the level of ownership and impact you'll have. At SpaceX, engineers assume profound responsibility for their hardware, and your work will directly influence the success of the Starship program. You'll collaborate with world-class teams across various disciplines, from combustion devices to manufacturing, ensuring your designs are optimally integrated and successfully translated into flight hardware.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $95,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on experience level. Beyond the base salary, SpaceX offers comprehensive benefits including equity opportunities, medical coverage, and retirement plans. While the role demands flexibility with working hours and conditions, it offers the unique reward of contributing to SpaceX's mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment and is passionate about pushing the boundaries of space technology. You'll need to be comfortable working in various conditions, from tight quarters to heights, and be ready to tackle complex engineering challenges with innovative solutions.

Join SpaceX and be part of a team that's not just dreaming about the future of space exploration, but actively building it. Your work will directly contribute to developing the technologies needed to establish human presence on Mars and revolutionize access to space.
