Description For Automation & Controls Engineer, Launch Pad (Starship)

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join their Starship program. This role is integral to developing the world's most powerful launch vehicle, capable of carrying over 100 metric tons to Earth orbit and ultimately enabling human life on Mars.

The position focuses on designing and implementing electrical control systems for the Starship launch mount and integration tower. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and joining a highly talented team of engineers with an impressive track record in automated solutions.

As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you'll be responsible for architecting control systems, designing industrial electrical panels, and developing software for PLCs and HMI interfaces. The role combines electrical engineering expertise with software development skills, requiring both technical depth and breadth.

The ideal candidate should have at least one year of experience in control systems design and a bachelor's degree in engineering. Knowledge of industrial automation, PLC programming, and electrical codes is essential. The position requires a strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

SpaceX offers a comprehensive benefits package including equity opportunities, medical coverage, and retirement plans. The compensation is competitive, ranging from $100,000 to $135,000 depending on experience level. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to humanity's future in space while working with cutting-edge technology and world-class engineers.

The position requires extensive travel during system activation and the ability to pass Air Force background checks. Due to ITAR requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. SpaceX is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
