Description For Automation & Controls Engineer (Starlink Production)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join their Starlink production team. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the world's largest satellite constellation project, currently serving over 4 million users globally with high-speed internet access.

The position combines cutting-edge automation technology with SpaceX's mission to revolutionize space technology and enable human life on Mars. As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing and implementing sophisticated manufacturing systems that directly impact the production of Starlink's innovative satellite technology.

Your responsibilities will span across multiple disciplines, including machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring. You'll be tasked with designing and managing automation projects from conception through implementation, writing and debugging PLC code, and ensuring all systems meet strict safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliance).

The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science, with at least one year of relevant experience in industrial automation or robotics. Strong technical skills in PLC programming, electrical systems design, and robotics programming are highly valued. Experience with specific technologies like Beckhoff TwinCAT, EtherCAT, and ABB robotics is preferred.

This role offers competitive compensation ranging from $100,000 to $135,000 annually, depending on experience level. The benefits package is comprehensive, including equity opportunities, medical coverage, 401(k), and various other perks. Beyond the tangible benefits, you'll be working on technology that's literally changing the world, making high-speed internet accessible to remote and underserved areas globally.

The position requires dedication and flexibility, including the ability to work extended hours when needed to meet critical milestones. Due to ITAR requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have eligible immigration status. Join SpaceX to be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in manufacturing automation while contributing to humanity's future in space.
