Description For Avionics Systems Engineer (Starship)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer for their revolutionary Starship program. This role represents a unique opportunity to directly contribute to humanity's journey to Mars and the future of space exploration.

The position sits within the Starship Avionics Team, which maintains complete ownership of vehicle avionics throughout the entire lifecycle - from construction and testing to launch, recovery, and reuse. You'll be working on cutting-edge technology, handling everything from power distribution and vehicle networks to onboard sensors, actuators, compute systems, RF, and video components.

As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you'll be part of a cross-functional team that bridges multiple disciplines, working on complex challenges that require innovative solutions. The role demands a combination of technical expertise in electrical systems, software proficiency, and operational awareness. You'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of critical avionics systems that are essential for Starship's success.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $100,000 to $135,000 annually, depending on experience and level. Beyond the base salary, SpaceX provides a comprehensive benefits package including equity opportunities, medical coverage, and retirement plans. The role is based in Hawthorne, CA, and requires a commitment to flexible working hours due to mission-critical operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about space exploration, has a strong foundation in electrical engineering and systems integration, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. You'll be working alongside some of the industry's best talents, directly contributing to SpaceX's mission of making life multi-planetary.

The role requires hands-on experience with electrical components and systems, programming skills in languages like Python or C++, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. You'll need to be comfortable with both detailed technical work and broader system-level thinking, as well as have excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Join SpaceX and be part of a team that's literally reaching for the stars, while working on technology that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space exploration.
