This role is part of the fast-paced R&D-focused Development Test group, which plays a crucial role in reducing hardware development time and increasing reliability for SpaceX's upcoming products, ground systems, spacecraft, and launch vehicles.

As a Development Test Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of creating and implementing test equipment for new structures, components, and mechanisms. The position requires a unique blend of technical expertise in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience with test systems. You'll be responsible for designing test stands, analyzing structures, and supervising integration processes, all while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least one year of relevant experience. Responsibilities For Development Test Engineer

  • Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists
  • Design and analyze structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
  • Supervise the integration of test stands including fabrication, mechanical assembly and data/control systems
  • Operate test stands with great attention to detail

Requirements For Development Test Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical structures design/analysis or related projects
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% to other SpaceX sites
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 lbs
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends
  • Must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirements)
