Description For Development Test Engineer (Starshield)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking a Development Test Engineer for their Starshield program, which leverages Starlink technology for government national security applications. This role is crucial in developing and testing SpaceX's newest products, focusing on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of space technology, developing test equipment and procedures for spacecraft and subassemblies. As a Development Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing test stands, creating fabrication drawings, and implementing sophisticated test equipment. The role requires a unique combination of mechanical engineering expertise and hands-on technical skills.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least one year of relevant experience. They should be comfortable with both theoretical design work and practical implementation, including working with high-pressure fluid systems and complex mechanical structures. Knowledge of programming languages like Python and JavaScript is preferred, along with experience in data acquisition and controls.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $95,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on experience level. SpaceX provides comprehensive benefits including equity options, medical coverage, 401(k), and generous paid time off. The role requires ITAR compliance, meaning candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have eligible immigration status.

Working at SpaceX means being part of a team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space technology and human exploration. The company culture emphasizes innovation, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. While the role demands flexibility with travel and working hours, it offers the unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking aerospace developments and the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
