Description For Electrical Design Engineer, Customer Hardware (Starlink)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is revolutionizing space exploration with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. As part of this mission, they've developed Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation providing high-speed internet globally.

The Electrical Design Engineer role for the Starlink customer hardware team offers a unique opportunity to impact millions of users worldwide. You'll be responsible for developing consumer-facing devices like Starlink dishes and Wi-Fi routers that connect users from remote Amazon teachers to Antarctic researchers, and from digital nomads to emergency responders.

In this role, you'll have complete ownership over the electrical system development, working directly with senior leadership to influence the constellation's fundamental operation. The position combines hands-on hardware development with strategic system design, requiring collaboration across multiple disciplines including electrical, silicon, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and at least one year of professional experience in circuit design or hardware development. Advanced education (Master's degree) and additional experience in rapid product development, mixed-signal circuit boards, and programming are highly valued. The role requires expertise in various technical areas including FPGAs, Ethernet, multi-GHz Serdes, and power supply components.

SpaceX offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive base salary ($100,000-$150,000 based on level), equity opportunities, medical benefits, 401(k), and generous paid time off. The position requires ITAR compliance and may involve extended hours for critical missions. Join SpaceX to be part of a team that's making science fiction a reality while connecting the world through advanced satellite technology.
