Description For Environmental Health & Safety Engineer (Starshield)

SpaceX, a pioneering aerospace company, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for their Starshield program. This role is crucial in maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance across SpaceX's operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with the ability to develop and implement safety policies, conduct hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with various regulatory agencies.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other regulatory guidelines, collaborating on job hazard assessments, monitoring employee exposure to hazards, implementing machine guarding, and conducting safety inspections. The role also involves investigating accidents, developing safety contingency plans, and ensuring proper allocation of safety-related resources.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering with an emphasis on occupational health and safety, and at least 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety disciplines. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, excellent organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with industrial hygiene programs are preferred.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience level. Responsibilities For Environmental Health & Safety Engineer (Starshield)

  • Develop and maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborate on job hazard assessments and implement safety policies
  • Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
  • Implement machine guarding
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
  • Complete and maintain safety observations from hazard identification audits
  • Investigate industrial accidents and occupational diseases
  • Develop and maintain safety contingency plans
  • Ensure compliance with EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA regulations
  • Allocate resources for safety-related items
  • Oversee technicians' safety inspections
  • Create Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments
  • Maintain recordkeeping for permitted sources
  • Maintain compliance with Certified Unified Program Agency

Requirements For Environmental Health & Safety Engineer (Starshield)
