Description For Facilities Engineer, MEP

SpaceX, a pioneering aerospace company, is seeking a Facilities Engineer, MEP to join their critical infrastructure team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, build, and maintain some of the world's most advanced manufacturing facilities, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

As a Facilities Engineer, you'll lead project teams, manage MEP systems, and ensure the smooth operation of SpaceX's Hawthorne production facility. You'll be responsible for overseeing infrastructure projects, maintenance, and improvements across various systems including HVAC, electrical, and fire protection.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading internal teams and contractors through MEP engineering processes
  • Providing technical support to ensure compliance with standards and codes
  • Managing design and construction conflicts in real-time
  • Preparing and coordinating capital expenditure processes
  • Ensuring facility readiness and responding to emergencies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience with MEP building systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software
  • Experience in aerospace or heavy industrial projects (preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities For Facilities Engineer, MEP

  • Lead internal project teams, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the MEP engineering process
  • Provide technical engineering support to ensure compliance with standards and codes
  • Verify and coordinate maintenance for HVAC, electrical, cranes, facility systems, security systems, and fire protection systems
  • Manage design, development, and issuance of drawings and documentation
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field
  • Prepare and coordinate capital expenditure process
  • Work with AHJ to acquire building permits
  • Communicate and deliver building/maintenance activities and schedules
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability of installations
  • Respond to facility emergencies and own facility readiness procedures
  • Write, negotiate, and manage scope across multiple MEP engineering disciplines

Requirements For Facilities Engineer, MEP

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or engineering design software
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (due to ITAR requirements)
