Description For Factory Automation Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

SpaceX, the pioneering space technology company founded with the vision of making humanity multi-planetary, is seeking a Factory Automation Engineer for their Starlink consumer hardware division. This role represents a unique opportunity to join the world's leading private space company that's actively revolutionizing both space travel and global internet connectivity.

The position is centered within SpaceX's manufacturing operations for Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation currently serving over 4 million users worldwide with high-speed internet. As a Factory Automation Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing sophisticated automation solutions for high-volume consumer electronics production, working in either the Hawthorne or Austin facilities.

The role combines elements of mechanical engineering, electrical systems, and industrial software development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys multidisciplinary challenges. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing factory automation solutions, including robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring systems. The position requires both technical expertise and project management skills, as you'll be leading projects from initial conception through to operational handoff.

What makes this role particularly exciting is SpaceX's unique approach to keeping all engineering and production in-house, allowing for rapid iteration and immediate impact. You'll be working in an environment where innovation is not just encouraged but required, and where your work directly contributes to SpaceX's mission of making internet accessible globally while ultimately enabling human life on Mars.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $100,000 to $135,000 based on experience, with additional benefits including equity options, comprehensive healthcare, and retirement plans. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a revolutionary company that's changing both life on Earth and humanity's future in space.
