SpaceX, founded with the vision of making humanity a multi-planetary species, is seeking a Factory Automation Engineer for their Starlink consumer hardware division. This role is crucial in developing and implementing automation solutions for high-volume manufacturing of Starlink satellite receivers that provide internet access to millions of users worldwide.

The position combines software engineering, robotics, and industrial automation, requiring expertise in PLC programming, machine design, and safety systems implementation. You'll be working in SpaceX's Bastrop facility, contributing to the company's vertically integrated manufacturing approach that enables rapid innovation and deployment.

Responsibilities For Factory Automation Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects including factory ideation, machine commissioning and proof of rate capability
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications
  • Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment
  • Generate HMI screens for machine operation and troubleshooting
  • Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A regulations
  • Create and manage schedules and budgets

Requirements For Factory Automation Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

Python
Java
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science discipline
  • Experience with machine design and motion system implementation
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, preferably Beckhoff TwinCAT structured text programming
  • Experience with industrial software and robotics programming
  • Understanding of electrical systems and safety standards
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be eligible under ITAR requirements
