Description For GNC Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

SpaceX, founded on the vision of human space exploration, is seeking a GNC Engineer with Top Secret clearance. This role involves designing guidance and control algorithms for multi-spacecraft cooperation, developing physics-based simulations, and driving program-level requirements for complex missions. The ideal candidate will solve complex problems, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and be passionate about advancing the space industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing GNC algorithms, flight software, and simulations
  • Creating algorithms for spacecraft maneuver planning and multi-vehicle cooperation
  • Building tools for system-of-system performance analysis
  • Developing statistical orbit determination algorithms
  • Acting as a cross-disciplinary expert to meet mission objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics
  • 1+ years of professional modeling and simulation experience
  • Experience with Python or C++
  • Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance

Preferred skills include experience with 6DoF simulations, modern C++, state estimation algorithms, RF communication, and a Master's or PhD in a relevant field.

Responsibilities For GNC Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

  • Develop highly reliable and performance GNC algorithms, flight software, simulations, tools, and services
  • Develop algorithms for planning and optimizing spacecraft maneuvers and attitude behaviors
  • Develop algorithms for the management of multiple spacecraft cooperating to achieve a shared mission objective
  • Build software tools and construct scenarios to perform system-of-system performance analysis
  • Develop statistical orbit determination algorithms
  • Create a library of system models of space and ground systems
  • Act as cross-disciplinary expert, ensuring that the system can meet mission objectives
  • Communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Play an integral part of a small team that will continuously iterate on mission design through all phases of the program

Requirements For GNC Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics
  • 1+ years of professional experience with modeling and simulation
  • Professional experience with software languages Python or C++
  • Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance
