Description For Hardware Reliability Engineer (Avionics)

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer (Avionics) to join their Build Reliability organization. This role involves collaborating with core groups at SpaceX, supporting avionics hardware from design to production and operation. The engineer will use data to understand reliability factors, support quality objectives, and drive improvements in manufacturing, test, and flight reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with electrical design and avionics manufacturing teams to improve product reliability
  • Conducting PCBA test failure investigations and root cause analysis
  • Identifying opportunities for risk reduction and improving manufacturability
  • Monitoring product yield rates and driving corrective actions
  • Containing non-conforming products and guiding quarantine and rework activities
  • Challenging requirements to determine value-added processes

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, 1+ years of experience with digital or mixed-signal designs, and 1+ years in a manufacturing, reliability, or design engineering role. Preferred skills include troubleshooting experience, a Master's degree, 2+ years of industry experience, and knowledge of quality tools and processes.

This role offers exposure to cutting-edge space technology and the opportunity to contribute to SpaceX's mission of making humanity interplanetary. The work environment is hands-on, involving time in the office, factory floor, and lab. Candidates must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed, and meet ITAR requirements.

SpaceX offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, potential long-term incentives, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to be part of a team dedicated to space exploration and innovation.
