Description For IC Layout Engineer (Silicon Engineering)

SpaceX is revolutionizing space technology with its ambitious mission to enable human life on Mars. As an IC Layout Engineer in the Silicon Engineering team, you'll be working on the cutting-edge Starlink project - the world's largest satellite constellation providing high-speed internet to over 5 million users globally.

This role sits at the intersection of space technology and advanced semiconductor design, where you'll be developing crucial components for both space and ground infrastructure. You'll be working alongside world-class teams across various disciplines, from ASIC design to manufacturing, contributing to multiple silicon projects that push the boundaries of integration, power efficiency, and mixed signal architectures.

The position offers an unique opportunity to work on advanced node IC layouts (22nm down to 5nm and below) and handle complex RF circuits operating at frequencies up to 50GHz. You'll be responsible for everything from chip floor planning to final tape out, requiring both technical expertise and strategic thinking.

The role comes with competitive compensation ($115,000-$135,000) and comprehensive benefits, including equity opportunities and full healthcare coverage. As part of SpaceX, you'll be contributing directly to the future of space exploration and global connectivity through the Starlink program.

This is an ideal position for someone who combines strong technical skills in IC layout with a passion for space technology and innovation. You'll need to be detail-oriented, capable of working independently on challenging problems, and comfortable with the fast-paced nature of space technology development. The role requires ITAR compliance, meaning candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or qualify under specific immigration statuses.
