Description For IT Linux Systems Engineer

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking an IT Linux Systems Engineer to join their mission of making humanity an interplanetary species. This role sits within the Information Technology Linux Infrastructure team, where you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining the critical systems that support SpaceX's ambitious goals.

The position requires a skilled engineer with deep Linux expertise who can thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Linux-based and open-source software platforms that meet the demanding needs of SpaceX's engineering teams. The role involves creating highly-resilient, scalable systems while working collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization.

Key technical areas include Linux server administration, automation and scripting (Python, bash), configuration management (Puppet/Ansible), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and networking. You'll also work with various open-source technologies such as Apache, NGINX, and ELK stack. The position requires both hands-on technical skills and excellent communication abilities, as you'll interact with internal teams, external vendors, and management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a systems engineer passionate about space exploration and technology. You'll be directly contributing to SpaceX's mission while working with cutting-edge technologies in a mission-critical environment. The role offers competitive compensation ($120,000-$160,000) plus comprehensive benefits including equity, 401(k), medical coverage, and paid leave. The position requires ITAR compliance, meaning candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or eligible asylees/refugees.

Join SpaceX to be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space technology while building robust, scalable infrastructure to support humanity's journey to Mars.
