Description For Lead Precision Machining Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company founded with the vision of making humanity a multi-planetary species, is seeking a Lead Precision Machining Engineer for their revolutionary Starlink project. This role presents an extraordinary opportunity to work at the forefront of space technology, specifically focusing on developing precision machined products with single-digit micron tolerances for critical satellite and ground hardware components.

As a Lead Engineer, you'll be instrumental in bridging the gap between development and production teams, ensuring swift turnaround on new hardware manufacturing. Your expertise will be crucial in both the design and development of current and next-generation payloads for the Starlink network, which aims to provide global internet coverage through a constellation of satellites.

The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $125,000 to $175,000 annually, complemented by extensive benefits including equity options, comprehensive healthcare, and various other perks. Located in the Seattle area, you'll have access to company shuttle services and work in a dynamic environment that promotes innovation and technical excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 2 years of experience in complex parts engineering, along with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering. Your leadership abilities will be put to use in building and mentoring a team of engineers, while your technical expertise in GD&T, precision metrology, and hands-on machining experience will drive the development of cutting-edge space technology.

This role offers the unique opportunity to be part of SpaceX's mission to revolutionize space technology and enable human life on Mars. You'll work with some of the industry's brightest minds, tackle challenging engineering problems, and contribute to the development of technology that will shape humanity's future in space. The position requires dedication, with occasional extended hours and travel, but offers the reward of being at the forefront of space exploration and technological innovation.
