Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer (Starship Avionics)

  • Design packaging solutions for electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Perform thermal, structural, and tolerance analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Participate in initial mechanical design, 3D modeling, creation of production drawings and maintenance of design data
  • Conduct failure analysis of components related to thermal, loads, vibration and shock
  • Interface with machine shops and production teams
  • Own the hardware delivery timeline from inception to integration
  • Lead internal design reviews and participate in reviews with suppliers and customers
  • Ensure structural designs meet weight and rate targets using innovative approaches

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer (Starship Avionics)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis
  • Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
  • Proficient in hand calculations, finite element analyses (FEA), and computer-aided designs (CAD)
  • Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes
  • Working knowledge of thermal and structural FEA studies
  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements
