Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer, Starship Stage 0

  • Work closely with analysts and design team on tower design requirements
  • Develop production procedures and manage transition from development to production
  • Coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing
  • Execute design for manufacturability changes
  • Create CAD models and prints for flight/tooling components
  • Lead on-site design engineering for parts and assemblies
  • Create and maintain build schedules
  • Resolve manufacturing discrepancies with quality team
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Generate ideas for current and next-generation vehicles
  • Source and advise vendors from technical perspective

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer, Starship Stage 0

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on project experience with mechanical systems
  • 2+ years of manufacturing design experience
  • Experience with GD&T concepts
  • Experience with fluid dynamics and FEA modeling
  • Experience with large steel structure construction
  • Ability to work at elevated heights up to 500 feet
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check
  • Must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirements)
  • Physical capability to work in tight quarters and extreme environments
