Description For Operations Engineer, Launch Strategy (Falcon)

SpaceX is seeking an Operations Engineer for their Launch Strategy team focused on the Falcon program. This role is crucial in guiding the launch organization by formalizing future launch plans, defining operational targets, and assisting teams with operational execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business intelligence, including data engineering, visualization, and analysis in a dynamic industrial engineering environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tactical recommendations and addressing trends to support growth targets and daily execution
  • Developing and tracking key performance metrics
  • Integrating and organizing operational data using SQL, Power Automate, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel
  • Creating reports and alerts for operational measurement and improvement
  • Developing and maintaining Power BI reporting tools
  • Analyzing trends and operating metrics to inform launch strategy
  • Implementing process improvements and conducting process engineering
  • Assisting in manifest planning and change management activities
  • Providing regular performance reviews and visibility on operations

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least 2 years of experience as an operations, process, manufacturing, or industrial engineer in a production environment. Strong skills in SQL, Power BI, Python/R, and Excel are essential.

Preferred qualifications include experience with information management tools like JIRA and Confluence, data engineering, scheduling software, ERP/MRP systems, and Lean and quality tools. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements For Operations Engineer, Launch Strategy (Falcon)

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics
  • 2+ years of experience as an operations, process, manufacturing, or industrial engineer in a manufacturing or production environment
  • 2+ years of experience using SQL, Power BI, Python/R, and/or Excel for analysis or modeling
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
  • Willingness to work weekends and night shifts as necessary
  • Willingness to travel to other launch sites
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR requirements)
