This role offers a unique opportunity to work on some of the most advanced electronics ever deployed in space, contributing directly to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars. You'll be responsible for the design, analysis, and qualification of critical power systems including high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, and power distribution components.

Responsibilities For Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Serve as the responsible engineer for design, analysis, fabrication, and qualification of high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, power generation, and distribution components
  • Perform thermal, structural, dynamic, and tolerance analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Participate in mechanical design, 3D models, and creation of production drawings
  • Conduct failure analysis of components related to thermal, loads, vibration and shock
  • Interface with machine shops and production teams
  • Own hardware delivery timeline from inception through integration
  • Participate in internal design reviews and reviews with suppliers and customers

Requirements For Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, math, or scientific discipline
  • Experience with mechanical/electromechanical hardware design and analysis
  • Must be willing to travel to Starbase launch facility in Brownsville, TX
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements
  • May require extended hours and weekend work
