Description For RF/Analog IC Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking an RF/Analog IC Design Engineer to join their Starlink team. This role is crucial in developing next-generation RFICs for both space and ground infrastructure, directly contributing to the world's largest satellite constellation providing internet to over 4 million users globally.

The position offers an unique opportunity to work at the intersection of space technology and telecommunications, developing cutting-edge solutions that will expand the performance and capabilities of the Starlink network. You'll be working alongside world-class cross-disciplinary teams, including systems, firmware, architecture, design, validation, and product engineering professionals.

As an RF/Analog IC Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, simulating, and modeling RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems. Your work will involve developing complex circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes, performing IC floor planning and layout, and working closely with system architects and ASIC engineers to optimize hardware-software integration.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of RF integrated circuit experience and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees with emphasis in RF/Analog/Mixed-signal integrated circuit design, experience with simulation tools like Spectre and ADS, and knowledge of RF transceiver architectures.

Responsibilities For RF/Analog IC Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)

  • Design, simulate and model RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems
  • Derive specifications for the RFIC subsystems and circuits
  • Develop Analog/Mixed-Signal/RF/microwave circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes
  • Work with system architects, modem/DSP and ASIC engineers
  • Perform IC floor planning and layout
  • Model package and external parasitic components
  • Evaluate and characterize prototypes of the design
  • Characterize and analyze full radio performance
  • Assist in development of automated test lab equipment
  • Work with manufacturing engineers on production testing and qualification

Requirements For RF/Analog IC Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
  • 5+ years of RF integrated circuit experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirements)
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary
