Description For Space Lasers Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking a Space Lasers Engineer to join their groundbreaking Starlink program. This role sits at the intersection of advanced optical engineering and space technology, focusing on developing the world's most sophisticated satellite free-space optical communication systems.

The position offers an unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge laser communication technology that will revolutionize global connectivity. As a Space Lasers Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, validating, and operating free-space optical communication systems that enable high-bandwidth data transmission through space. This role combines hands-on technical work with system-level architecture and leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in optics, photonics, and laser technology, complemented by programming skills in languages like Python, C++, or LabVIEW. You'll work with state-of-the-art optical equipment and be responsible for everything from system design to environmental testing and anomaly investigation.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone passionate about space technology and optical engineering to make a direct impact on SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars. The role offers competitive compensation ($100,000-$135,000 based on experience) and comprehensive benefits including equity, medical coverage, and 401(k). You'll be working with a team of brilliant engineers in a fast-paced environment where your work directly contributes to advancing humanity's presence in space.

The position requires ITAR compliance (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) and willingness to work extended hours when needed. If you're excited about developing next-generation space communication technology and want to be part of SpaceX's mission to make humanity multi-planetary, this role offers the perfect opportunity to make your mark in space technology history.
