Description For Space Medical Research Engineer

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking a Space Medical Research Engineer to join their innovative Space Medicine team. This role sits at the intersection of human spaceflight, medical research, and engineering, working to ensure the safety and health of crewmembers on SpaceX missions.

The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of human spaceflight medical research and operations. As a medical research engineer, you'll collaborate with SpaceX's medical team, NASA, and other partners to develop and implement research protocols, medical systems, and health monitoring solutions for space missions. The role involves hands-on work in Mission Control, managing research logistics, and contributing to the design of health countermeasures for long-duration spaceflight.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in science or engineering, with specific experience in human-subject research and spaceflight-related health aspects. You'll need to be comfortable working across multiple technical domains, managing complex projects, and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders. The position requires both technical expertise and project management skills, as you'll be responsible for everything from experiment design to crew training and data collection.

SpaceX offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary ranging from $95,000 to $130,000 depending on experience level, plus substantial benefits including equity opportunities, comprehensive healthcare, and retirement plans. The position is based in Los Angeles, with some travel to Cape Canaveral and Houston, and requires U.S. person status due to ITAR regulations.

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars while working at the forefront of space medicine and research. You'll be part of a team that's literally pushing the boundaries of human exploration, developing the medical capabilities needed for sustainable space travel and colonization.
