As a Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer at our Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, you'll join an elite team designing and improving critical launch facility systems. Responsibilities For Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer (Launch Hardware)

  • Design, operate, install, and test low-power electrical systems at SpaceX's east coast launch site
  • Manage ground support control and instrumentation systems for launch vehicle/spacecraft fueling and operation
  • Handle Cape ground support equipment build, checkouts, and troubleshooting
  • Operate and maintain data acquisition system hardware
  • Manage network infrastructure interfaces to data acquisition systems
  • Design and build junction boxes and conveyances for end instruments
  • Create electrical schematics for new instrumentation
  • Maintain systems through preventative maintenance
  • Write procedures for routine tasks and troubleshooting
  • Provide innovative solutions for specialized equipment and challenging installations
  • Install basic electrical components and design servo motor controls

Requirements For Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer (Launch Hardware)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years experience with instrumentation power systems design/data acquisition systems
  • 5+ years experience with low-power systems and/or DC circuits
  • Proficiency in electronics test rack design and field measurements
  • Experience with electrical test equipment
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, HTML, Java, and MS Excel
  • Experience with Modbus and PLCs
  • Must pass Air Force background check
  • Willing to work weekends and night shifts
  • Up to 15% travel requirement
  • Must meet ITAR requirements
