Description For Sr. GNC Engineer (Starship)

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. GNC Engineer for their Starship program. As a GNC Engineer, you will be responsible for pushing the technical boundaries of flight control systems for the world's most advanced rockets, including the next-generation Starship vehicle. This fully reusable spacecraft is capable of carrying humans to Mars and beyond. You will work with a talented team of accomplished engineers to develop, analyze, and test vehicles and subsystems for highly reliable flight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing innovative guidance, navigation, and control systems for Starship
  • Engaging in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations and design work
  • Implementing new software or algorithms for mission-unique capabilities
  • Developing 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for GNC systems analysis
  • Analyzing launch vehicle trajectories, performance dispersions, and flight stability
  • Conducting post-flight data review and correlation with analyses
  • Supporting launch and mission operations
  • Performing testing of GNC software using various methods

The ideal candidate should thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, adapt quickly, and love solving hard problems. They should have a bachelor's degree in physics or engineering with 5+ years of professional experience, or a postgraduate degree in a related field. Experience with control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation is required, along with proficiency in Python or C++.

SpaceX offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $160,000 - $220,000 per year, potential long-term incentives, comprehensive benefits, and various perks.
